Jacqelyn Hand grew up in the Kansas City area and received her undergraduate and master’s degree from Kansas State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from West Virginia University, and as life would have it, she found herself back in Kansas City as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Bazzini Lab. “Working in the Bazzini Lab is fantastic. I love studying codon optimality; it’s just beginning to be uncovered and it turns out that it is a basic fundamental process.” In her spare time, Jackie enjoys at-home benchwork (cooking) and culturing flora (gardening). Amina Zemouri

Graduate Researcher

Amina Imen Zemouri is a graduate student from the Magistère Européen de Génétique in Paris Diderot University, France. She is now in a Genetics Master’s Degree program after having worked in metabolic diseases as a dietician-nutritionist for a while. She decided to do her master’s research in Ariel Bazzini’s lab in order to discover more about gene regulation. Very questioning and ambitious, she is passionate about how life works and all of nature’s secrets. Elise Viodé was the first student from the Stowers Institute’s Summer Scholar program to join the lab. She is a French graduate student from the Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris. She is in her second year of a masters’ degree and is specializing in genetics.
