Tejbir Kandola

Predoctoral Researcher, Open University, 2016-2021

I am originally from Kansas City and have always been interested in science.  Whether it was biology or weather, how the Earth "works" has always intrigued me.  After working for years outside of science, I went back to school at the University of Missouri- Kansas City and received dual degrees in biology and chemistry. While finishing my degrees, I started working at Stowers in the Halfmann lab as a research technician.  Subsequently, I began my PhD studies in the Open University program.  Outside of the lab, I am on the Executive Leadership Team of TEDxKC and work extensively at Stowers on career development training and the creation of an institutional mental health infrastructure.

Ask me about: Who to talk to at the institute for any methods advice, microscopy techniques, cytometry techniques, yeast manipulation, scaling up of any project, high-throughput science, management skills/career development,  mental health, graduate school planning,  any science questions outside of biology, anything about living in Kansas City
