Dr. Kausik Si, Ph.D.

Kausik Si is an Investigator at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, which he joined in 2006.

Kausik received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Calcutta in India. He received a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, after which he undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University.

Using fruit flies as a model organism, Kausik’s work has provided insight into the molecular basis of the persistence of memory and how memory storage mechanisms may be influenced by both experience and internal states.

In addition to his role at the Stowers Institute, Kausik is an Associate Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center’s School of Medicine in the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology.
